Japan: Culinary Adventure (19): Okonomiyaki at Warai

Beer at Warai (Kyoto) - Japan  2014

Okonomiyaki (Kyoto) - Japan  2014

A must-visit place.

Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き) is a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients. The name is derived from the word okonomi, meaning "what you like" or "what you want", and yaki meaning "grilled" or "cooked" (cf. yakitori and yakisoba). Okonomiyaki is mainly associated with the Kansai or Hiroshima areas of Japan, but is widely available throughout the country.

Very frenetic, bustling atmosphere. As always, it was difficult to choose what to order (English menu notwithstanding). Beer of course. Actually, two beers. Our choices ended up being quite delicious, although we were a little puzzled by the lack of napkins.
